Moonlight Marathon

Last weekend, the Plattsburgh Boat Basin marina hosted the Moonlight Marathon, a 100 nautical mile keelboat race on Lake Champlain, which first started in 1997.

This year, fifteen sailboats left the starting line at 9pm Friday evening to return 16 to 23 hours later! After leaving Plattsburgh, the boats headed north toward Point au Roche buoy just off Mooney Bay. Once circled, the fleet was en route toward Diamond Island at the south end of the lake before returning to Plattsburgh.

This exceptional PHRF race takes place twice a year, once in June with a crew of 4 and once in September with a crew of 2. This year Race results are posted at (http://www.voile.org/evenements/courses/resultats.htm). The race is open to all. Interested Skippers can register at (http://www.voile.org/evenements/courses/inscription.htm).
